Maha Mrityunjaya

On 29th July Maha Mrityunjaya havan was conducted by Swami Swatmanandaji which was attended by more than 60 devotees at Chinmaya Sagar. Swamiji lucidly explained how Mrityunjaya Bhagwan who we were going to worship has 8 hands.4 hands two on either side hold 2 kalash showering water on himself. One hand has japa mala and one has mrigamudra denotes single pointed mind and two hands down are holding pots of amrit. Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is from the Rigveda addressed to Lord Tryambaka with the 2 eyes of justice and compassion and 3rd eye of intuitive self-knowledge. O 3 eyed One, we worship the fragrant supreme being, the Bestower of nourishment and care. Like the cucumber which when ready detaches easily may we with your blessings be bestowed with moksha. Swamiji said accept life as it is because change is always sorrowful. Moksha is our goal so let us do our sadhana regularly. Then Swamiji explained that Havan is an ancient practice even before idol worship began. Agni was the medium through which one can worship Bhagwan. We chanted Mahamritunjaya Mantra 108 times offering Ahuti after every chant. The atmosphere was Divine and uplifting and partaking in the Homa brought lot of peace and joy.
