Bhagawan Shiva is also commonly known as the Abhishek Priya Devata. During the Abhisheka, the Shivalinga is bathed with milk as a symbol of purification of the mind. As a part of Shravan Sadhana, the Chinmaya Jayam Zone has decided to distribute milk to under-privileged children of the Bal Jeevan trust throughout the auspicious month of Shravan.
The Bal Jeevan Trust, founded in 1994, is an NGO in Santacruz East. Initially, they started under a tree supporting only a few children from the rag picker community. Today, they are proud to educate and mentor around 97 such children from the lower socio economic strata, giving them a purpose and vision in life.
Sevikas of the Chinmaya Jayam Zone enthusiastically participated on Day 1 of the Milk Distribution Seva. They were lovingly welcomed with a unique Welcome Song sung by the students of the trust. Interactive sessions with these young minds showed sparks of ambition with the students knowing what they aspire to become in the future.
Thereafter, the sevikas assisted the members of the trust in the milk distribution. On receiving their glasses of milk, the students were beaming with joy and gratitude.
