Shravan Somwar Sagar

On the 9th of August ,the Worli classes of Smt. Sheela Chitnis and smt. Shailza Jhunjhunwala celebrated the first Shravan Somvaar . The programme was an expression of devotion

to Lord Shiva - The Infinite  Consciousness which enlivens the whole universe. It was well attended by 73 people .  A Dhun of Om Namah Shivaya was played while people joined in .

At 4.00pm Sandhya Uberoi  welcoming all , introduced the Sevikas Smt. Sheela Chitnis and Smt. Shailza Jhunjhunwala.

Smt. Paulomi Dhawan opened the meeting by asking smt. Shruti Mohatta to do the invocation . She chanted Om sahanavavatu; Samasta  jan kalyane and a prayer  of Lord Shiva following which Smt. Kumud Jhawar sang a soulful , melodious and soothing Bhajan- Shivoham Shivoham .

The highlight of the programme was the virtual tour we took with Smt. Sunita Taparia of the 15 Shiva temples belonging to Chinmaya Mission across the world. It was ardently  researched , compiled briefly  and well presented  by Sunita . It was duly endorsed by the content team of our Mission at Powai.

To make the program more informative and interactive there was a game of Housie played with Shiva’s characteristics. It was seamlessly conducted by Poonam Advani, Reena Mehrotra, Sunita Taparia, Manisha Pamnani and Rupal Mehta. Exquisite  hand painted sketches of Shiva by Jyoti Khicha were  announced as prizes for the winners  which will be duly delivered to them. Four full houses  were played (no other combination was played) and 11 people were  declared as winners . The housie was well received and everyone enjoyed it .

Paulomi recognised the effort of Shobha Sarawgi in making the flier and Sujata Murali for her valuable technical support. She thanked everyone for attending the programme and the team for their efforts in putting it together by reading out  four lines written by Mridula Agarwal.

The programme concluded with the Aarti sung by Sheela Chitnis and performed  by Manisha Pamnani who had decorated the  altar  beautifully with Lord Shiva ‘s photo,  his accessories and by offering 108 bel patras to HIM .

Sandhya closed the meeting with Shanti Path and announcement of the next Shravan Somvaar programme to be held on the 16th of August .

The entire celebration was a tribute to our revered teacher late Dr. Madhuriben Sheth.
