The workshop took place on 18th July, via Zoom and consisted of a session with Swamiji followed by a live cook-along demonstration with Chef Amrita and was attended by over 80 participants.

 

Swamiji began with discussing the importance of mindfulness and shared tips on practicing mindfulness in daily life by focusing on tasks, being aware of feelings and accepting of change. He further spoke about how the food we eat affects the mind and eventually, the food preference itself. Swamiji also elaborated on the concept of ahar shuddhi, which is impacted by the food quality, temperament of the cook and how it is served.

 

Swamiji spoke of the three gunas namely sattva, rajas, tamas and discussed the value of sattvik food in terms of health, happiness and wellbeing and shared examples of sattvik foods and qualities of a sattvik eater.

 

Swamiji concluded with sharing the seven habits of a mindful eater such as starting the meal with gratitude and eating without distraction. During the live cook-along with Chef Amrita, she demonstrated the recipe for Mexican rice and roti nachos with salsa whilst interacting with participants and answering their questions.
