Guru Smaran Saptah- 7th May ( Day 5)

Class held on Friday 11am Panchsheel

Sevika Manju Malkani

Attendees 12

Class started with Guru Stotram being chanted verse by verse by members of the class.

The reflections of each class member on My trek through Uttarakhand were discussed and have been summarised beautifully by Dipti Nazareth

The class started with prayers and Guru- Stotram .

Very artistically done collages of Gurudev were made by Sabina and Vandana.

All the members present shared their observations, reflections and learnings from the book "My Trek to Uttarakhand.

Passages from the book were read out appreciating Gurudev's style and language.

His description of nature and the beauty of the mountains, rivers, meadows, jungles, granite cliffs, birds and everything on the pilgrimage is expressed very vividly.

The blessings and grace of God felt by Gurudev throughout the trek.

4) His human afflictions of pain, tiredness, cold, numbness and lacerations and blisters on sore feet, and other difficulties experienced by him and his attitude of continuing on the journey without complaining.

The power of Prayer, Faith and Courage. The importance of Silence and the incidents of having Satsang with the Mahatmas in silence. How everything assumes significance in silence.

His teaching that pain alone turns us away from the sense pleasures into regions within the bosom. The solutions crystallize only in pain, accepted with resignation and prompted by faith.

Be an honest enquirer and learn to accept pain.

Develop the quality of intuition.

Be persistent and implement the learnings, especially in the present Covid times where we are stuck at home away from nature.

Gurudev's quality of love and compassion as demonstrated by his concern for the old couple who would be stranded in the jungle at night. His free distribution from his meagre supply of medicines to those who were sick and in pain.

The learnings and lessons could go on......

We ended the class with prayers and a feeling of well-being and the joy of sharing our views and takeaways and learnings from this beautiful book. Hari Om.
