Holi Celebrations at Chinmaya Prakash

Rang Rangilo Holi was celebrated in Chinmaya Prakash Zone at Birla Gardens, near Juhu Beach. Devotees of all ages, especially Bala Vihar children, came together to celebrate this festival of colours. Swami Swatmanandaji explained the significance of Holi. Apart from the usual story of Bhakta Prahlad, Swamiji talked about how Holi is also associated with Krishna-Radha and Lord Shiva. Dark-hued Krishna was asked by Mother Yashoda to put colour on fair Radha. This is also the day when Lord Shiva burnt down Kamadev with His third eye. Swamiji elaborately narrated Prahlad prasang. The younger Bala Vihar children were very amused by the story! They learnt that unflinching faith in God helps a person to survive any threat. After Swamiji’s talk, there was Holika Dahan. Swamiji asked everyone to put their negative tendencies in the Holi fire and get rid of them permanently. Then children, as well as elders, had a fun-time, playing with eco-friendly colours. Swamiji insisted that we must keep our culture alive, by celebrating festivals specially with our children.
