Janmashtami Celebrations - 15th Aug

A special celebration for Janmashtami was held for the Balvihar and Shishu Vihar students of the Chinmaya Jayam zone on 16th August.

18 enthusiastic children dressed beautifully as the Gopas and Gopis of Vrindavan joined in the celebrations. Our natkhat Kanhas of Shishu Vihaar dressed as Krishna, and our laadlis ornately dressed as Radha, were all gleaming with joy. Turn by turn, each student was asked to rock the jhula and welcome the cherubic ladoo Gopal.

The teachers, together with the children, sang soulful bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna. The sevikas distributed Krishna face masks to the children. The Balvihar teachers organized an exclusive game based on the famous Bakasura story from the Bhagavatam, wherein each student had to aim a ball into Bakasura’s beak, while wearing the Krishna mask. Lessons from the story were also explained by the teachers with relatable  real life examples.

This was followed by the Raas Leela, where our sevikas and students danced together with divine love for their Beloved. The Jayam centre echoed with chants of Hathi Ghoda Paal ki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal ki!

The event concluded with the distribution of prasad, crossword puzzles and bookmarks for the students as takeaways.
