Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) came into existence in May 1975 as an offshoot of a Week-long teenagers’ camp organized by Chinmaya Mission, Bangalore. Sixty youngsters between the age group of 17 to 25 years, who had participated in the camp and showed a keen interest in our spiritual culture, formed the nucleus. Chinmaya Mission Bangalore, which was already running “study groups,” institutionalized the concept and provided a firm foundation. This new venture into the delicate world of volatile youth is the outcome of sustained interest shown by a small number of inspired youngsters towards vedanta. This vedantic study is a science of personality development and human potential and was pioneered, interpreted and made youth friendly by Pujya Gurudev, Swami Chinmayananda.

CHYK is another step in the realization of the ‘Vision’ for which Pujya Gurudev and His dedicated and committed disciples have been ceaselessly working amongst the lay and the learned.
