Basant Panchami

On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, Ashok Gardens Study Group had the privilege of satsang with Swami Swatmanandi. Vivek Krishnani, Vice President of Chinmaya Mission, Ram Kumar, Study Group sevak and about 35 curious minds attended this session. Swamiji started the session with the significance of Basant Panchami and the light of knowledge in our lives; from the worship of Goddess Saraswati to the glorious river Saraswati, her material and earthly embodiment and as Consciousness in each of us. He talked about the civilization on the banks of the Saraswati and Sanatana Dharma. The second section was Question and Answer. The answers to the seekers questions lead an enriching session from what age does one begin spirituality, to connection of mind and maya, vruttis and vasanas, to why do we need to pray, is not enough if we just lead a good life full of values, to God and religion to how do we break out of this cycle of birth and death.

The study group will be starting Bhaja Govindam next class onwards. Swamiji explained the urgency and the compassion in this beautiful hard hitting composition by Adi Sankara. The session concluded with a serene guided meditation session.
