Shravan Somvar Celebrations

Conducted by Swami Swatmananda

29th July 2019

Mahamrityunjaya Havan was conducted by Swami Swatmanandaji; attended by more than sixty devotees at Chinmaya Sagar. Swamiji lucidly explained how Mrityunjaya Bhagwan has eight hands, of which two hands hold a kalash showering water on Himself. One hand has japa mala and one has mrigamudra, symbolizing a single-pointed mind. Two hands hold pots of amrit. Mahamrityunjaya Mantra from Rig Veda is addressed to Lord Tryambaka, with the two eyes of justice and compassion and third eye of intuitive self-knowledge. Swamiji said accept life as it is because change is always sorrowful. Moksha is our goal, so let us do our sadhana regularly. Swamiji then explained that Havan is an ancient practice even before idol worship began. Agni was the medium through which one can worship Bhagawan. Mahamritunjaya Mantra was chanted 108 times, offering aahuti after every chant. Festival Team appreciates Vibhaji’s Study Class Members, for their support and enthusiasm.
