Swami Viviktanandaji’s visit to Chinmaya Prakash Zone

Members of Chinmaya Prakash Zone were truly blessed with the visit of Swami Viviktanandaji (Regional Head, Chinmaya Mission, Kerala) to Chinmaya Priyam centre in Juhu on Tuesday, 29 th January 2019 evening.

Swamiji was welcomed with traditional Purna Kumbha ceremony. More than 40 devotees came for satsang with Swamiji due to which the centre was over-full. Swamiji spoke on the topic “Purpose of Life”.

Swamiji mentioned that anything that we do has a purpose. We sit in the car with the purpose of reaching a particular destination. Then what is the purpose of life?

He mentioned that we may have many purposes “in” life. But “the” purpose “of” life is only one. One may entertain variety of desires which may be at physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual level. Our scriptures prescribe four Purusharthas viz. Dharma, Artha, Kama & Moksha. He specifically mentioned that the Dharma is on priority and the Purusharthas of Artha & Kama must be in consonance with Dharma.

However, he mentioned that the real purpose of life is to attain Moksha. He clarified that the Moksha is not an after-death phenomenon. It is to be attained here and now in this life. It is freedom from bondage.

Swamiji advised that we should understand and appreciate our culture and scriptures in its right perspective. We cannot say that because Lord Krishna killed Kamsa, it is valid to kill one’s uncle.

Swamiji in his unique style and simple language explained that the purpose of life is to become Self-centred with “S” capital (meaning be centred in your true self). Swamiji invoked Pujya Gurudev’s grace and blessings on everyone so as to achieve this purpose of life.
