Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations by Bala Vihar children
On 6th September 2019, senior Bala Vihar children of Matunga chanted slokas on Ganesha. The significance of the festival was explained. Children sang Ganesha bhajans – on Gajanana, Ganapathi, Lambodhara, Mooshikavahana etc. Parents also participated in this fun-filled musical quiz. The celebration concluded with aarti and prasad.

On 22nd August 2019, senior Bala Vihar children of Matunga celebrated Janmashtami. They chanted Govinda Damodara stotram, Geeta Dhyanam and Bhagawad Geeta Chapter 18. They participated in a quiz on the life of Sri Krishna, based on the day, place and time of Krishna's birth and His leelas. Parents sang bhajans. The celebration concluded with distribution of prasad.

On 14th August at Panchsheel a Balavihar Sevika Training session was held by Swamini Supriyananda ji. A truly enlightening insight into innovative methods introduced by Swamini to keep the present generation of Balavihar students attentive and interested in their respective classes.

With Gurudev’s blessings, Bhakti Zone conducted Bala Vihar Sevak Training at Kamala Vihar Sports Club, Khandivli West. 39 participants attended the training, which was ably guided by Br. Yukta Chaitanya. Participants were taught by innovative methods of training by Smt. Shyamala Acharya and Smt. Pratima Rao.

Junior Bala Vihar children (attending class at Chinmaya Varashree, Matunga) visited Chinmaya Pradeep at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Powai to experience the Hindu Culture Cruise. Sevika Vijayalakshmi, along with Jayashree guided the children through the Cruise, singing bhajans and participating in the Cruise activities.

Insights to our Sanaatan Hindu Culture were aptly showcased at the Tell Me Why Balavihar Family Summer Camp at Chinmaya Vibhooti Kolwan from 2nd - 5th May 2019. This was the 8th Family Summer camp. Helmed by Swami Swatmananda ji, Swamini Nishkalananda ji, Sevaks, Sevikas and Yuvaveers more than 500 participants experienced several aspects of our ancient culture.

“Tell me why” - Scientific answers from Hindu Culture camp was organised by Chinmaya
Mission Mumbai from May 2 to May 5, 2019 at Chinmaya Vibhooti, the Vision Centre of
Chinmaya Mission spread over 70 acres with two beautiful temples – one of Lord Hanuman
at the entrance and one of Lord Ganapati at the top.

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on 19th April, Chinmaya Bhakti Zone organized one-day Bala Vihar camp for the little Hanumans. 47 children joined the camp, ranging from 5 to12 years. The camp started with ice-breakers, where the children got to know each other and they interacted enthusiastically. Post ice-breaker, a story session was conducted by Yuvaveers in which the children got to know how Curious, Brave and Charming Hanumanji was, at a young age.

Bala Vihar children led by their sevika, Sarika Pherwani, celebrated Rama Navami at the Mahim centre. All came prepared to speak on which character from Ramayana they identified with the most and why. All children and parents did likita japa of Sri Rama’s name. This was offered as a garland to the Lord, at South Indian Bhajana Samaj, Matunga.

Bala Vihar children from 11th Road, Chembur completed their text on Sri Hanuman and presented their learning in front of their parents. The entire program was beautifully anchored by three future sevikas, who are senior Bala Vihar children. The event was based on the sloka, Buddhir Balam.

Chinmaya Narayan Zone organized a 3 half day Balavihar camp for the children from 3 to 12 years from 26th to 28th December 2018 at Modern English School, Chheda Nagar, under the able guidance of Brni. Sailataji assisted by able Balavihar Sevikas. 71 children attended the camp.

Balavihar Camp 2016 by Chinmaya Mission Mumbai, conducted by Poojya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda, Swami Swatmananda, Brni.Nidhi Chaitanya, Br.Ved Chaitanya & Br.Yukt Chaitanya was held successfully at Chinmaya Vibhooti from 12th to 15th May 2016. Congratulations to all the Sevikas/Sevaks, Volunteers who made this happen with their meticulous planning, teamwork and co-ordination. They were ably led by Nidhi Chaitanya who is Balavihar Co-ordinator of Mumbai and has been organising these camps since 2011 and building the strength of Balavihar in Mumbai.
