Navaratri Festival

Chinmaya Prerana - Kharghar center celebrated the annual Navaratri festival with immense grandeur, fervour, gaiety, and devotion. During each of the ten days, Maa Nava-Durga’s symbolic manifestation was religiously, traditionally and creatively worshipped with precise puja vidhi. The deity was decorated with magnificent, creative attires, fine jewellery, flowers, garlands, etc. The temple premises was beautifully decorated and pulsated with sacred chants, puja rituals, homa vidhis, as innumerable dedicated devotees thronged the temple. They were treated to enchanting performances each evening with classical dance, vocal, instrumental recital performances.

On 12th October, Bhagavati Seva was performed by a hundred ladies. On14th October, over 75 mothers and children participated in the samashti Matru Pooja. On 17th October, Shree Sookta Havan was performed, followed by mahaprasad. Adding to the delight of the devotees, Guruji Swami Tejomayananadaji graced the temple, on the 18th and rendered a spiritual discourse on Vidya Amrutam Ashnute. On 19th, the utsava moorti of Goddess Mahalakshmi was carried around for a nagar parikrama, followed by fun-filled dandiya raas, which induced the enthusiastic participation of the young and the old alike. On Dussehra, tenth day, traditional kalasha abhishekam of Shri Mahalakshmi’s utsava moorti was performed in the auspicious presence of Swami Medhajanandaji and Swamini Swaprabhanandaji. The occasion was also graced with the presence of Swami Bodhatmanandaji and brahmachari-students from Powai Ashram. The abhishekam ritual was performed by more than 200 devotees.
