#Relationshiphacks: A 2-day workshop on ‘Relationship Management’ at Chinmaya Priyam

Why are relationships so difficult, today? Why have people become so inept at making relationships last? Have we forgotten how to love or worse still, have we forgotten what love is?

To answer these and several such questions, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Mumbai, organized a two-part workshop on ‘Relationship Management’, at Chinmaya Priyam.

Part 1: Held on Saturday, the 24th of February from 7.00 to 8.30 pm; conducted by Swami Swatmanandaji, and included a Q & A session, also. Young participants learnt about various aspects of relationships, from the Vedantic standpoint. Swami ji spoke about a range of relationships such as that, between parent and child, between partners, colleagues, friends etc.

He explained the different connotations and dynamics of relationships and gave practical advice on how to maintain a healthy balance.

  • Relationships are mirrors which enable us to see ourselves. They are meant for our own evolution”

  • Relationships should always start with ‘because of’ and they will eventually evolve into ‘in spite of’!”

  • Relationships will not and should not be, forever. If people in a Relationship do not evolve in their relationship, then what is the point?”

  • A relationship must have a label. For labels alone decide the commitment and boundaries within a relationship”

These and several such gems of wisdom were shared during the session.

Part II: Held on Sunday, the 25th of February between 2.30 - 4.30 pm, was conducted by Chyk Secretary, Aravind Raghavan and Yuvaveer, Bhavana Ramji. This session explored the dynamics of relationships between the different characters, from the film “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”. Aspects such as attachment in a relationship, forgiveness (asking and giving), self-love, taking the right pause and doing what one loves (Swadharma), were taught through a host of interesting activities.

The workshops elicited a wonderful response and here are a few feedbacks received:

Swamiji taught us various 'hacks' such as: how to tackle difficulties in a relationship, how to bring about a change in it and how to sustain the relationship without compromising on core principles, by adjusting with an understanding that we must drop our limitations and grow better each day. It was a very enlightening session which expelled confusions and delusions regarding Relationships. I thank Swamiji for helping us gain depth and understanding on this concept!”
