Geeta Chanting Competition

The Annual Geeta Chanting Competition finals for the area Dahisar to Kandivili was conducted at Children’s Academy School, Kandivali East, with 280 qualifying participants. Malad to Jogeshwari area was conducted at Gokuldham High School, Goregaon on 16th December 2018, with 233 qualifying participants. Children of all castes took part in the events; not just Hindus but also from Catholic and Muslim communities came together.  

Eight groups were formed, from A to H, according to the ages and from each group 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners were given trophies and consolation prizes for runners-up, along with gifts, were distributed. To keep the children energized, snacks were served. After chanting, the kids were engaged in various activities, viz. drawing, coloring and Origami. Videos were shown, explaining Hindu rituals and traditions. Activities were conducted for all kids by sevaks and Sevikas, under the dynamic leadership of our Bala Vihar sevika, Ms. Sitalakshmi.

CHYKS helped in the organizing. CHYK Sahil Shirke spoke about the greatness of Sanatana Dharma, which was appreciated by people of all ages. Ensuring the event would also give the parents something thought-provoking to go back home with, Shri Manish Pondaji gave eloquent talks. Shri Arjun Vyasji from Sanskrit Bharati spoke about the beauty, relevance and scientific importance of Sanskrit. He taught Sanskrit conversation to children, making them realise how easy a language it actually is. Inspiring videos of Pujya Gurudev was shown. Br. Yuktaji spoke to parents about right parenting and dealing with emotions. A special scarf with Chinmaya Mission logo was made for Volunteers. Programme ended with a Sanskrit sloka on team work.
